Peace and Security

Peace is more than the absence of war. Issues of human security, distributional justice, a political system that allows the resolution of conflicts inside the state institutions, and a democratically governed security sector are extremely important for sustainable peace and democratic stability.

FES Mozambique works with academic and political actors to reflect on the challenges for a peaceful democratic society and to develop ideas for social change. Here, traditional security issues as well as the political and economic dimension of conflict resolution are part of the deliberations. The creation of the preconditions for a sustainable peace is at the center of our work.
